Lifestyle Prior to Change
What was your Lifestyle prior to your transformation?
Before May 2016 My life was very Undisciplined or Should I say Sluggish, I was an anti-fitness worm who use to eat, sleep and repeat.
What was your turning point?
Can I tell you two of those incidences which triggered my soul? Back in 2012, I was diagnosed with herniated disk which made me dependent and bedridden for more than a year, After taking hell lot of medication I recovered but with extra kilos this phase made me realize obesity is a serious disease but with course of time I took it lightly until 2016 May when my brother emotionally blackmailed by saying you are good enough why you want to settle for less just because of your weight and yea that’s how it started.
Were there any unique challenges or difficulties you faced?
Many! I remember I couldn’t sleep a night before my first workout session wondering what If the machines broke with my weight in the gym tomorrow? What If I get a heart attack while running on a treadmill? 95kgs Stepping out of her comfy zone itself was a challenge.
Were there any circumstances when you had to face failures?
Failure? You can say there was this time when I was not satisfied with my progress despite trying so hard. Maybe I wanted a magic wand *hehe*
What was your motivation when you had faced a failure?
I am a believer in self-motivation. Though my parents supported and pushed me to the edge my de-motivators kept me going until the end.
Please provide the transformation details, when you started the transformation, what were the milestones along the way and how the transformation ended.
The transformation started back in 2016 May, Milestones -Being a PCOD-ic (Polycystic ovarian syndrome) since my teens, menstruation cycle was always disturbed which was recovered during this phase, My back was strong to perform dead lifts with weights, my stamina grew to the next level and most important a laziness divorced me. For me transformation has not ended yet, it’s an ongoing process as it’s not a journey to reach a particular destination, fitness is a lifestyle that I have adopted officially 😛
What do you think was the hardest part of your transformation?
Too many myths prevailing in the fitness industry(like girls shouldn’t lift, cardio is good compared to weight training and many much more) breaking these stereotypes was the hardest part.
Were there any compromises you had to make to achieve your targets?
My sleep was the biggest compromise, Early to bed and early to rise was not something I followed till the last year. But when fitness happened it changed my lifestyle completely.
How many days did a week you workout?
6 days a week
What was your workout split during the transformation?
From May till August I followed cardio and cardio and some more cardio but when s.q.u.a.t.s(an online platform that educates illiterates like me regarding fitness and nutrition) happened I understood that lifting weights won’t make me a she-hulk.
What were the different workouts you did?
Strength training, High volume intensity training By Jitendra Chouksey aka JC sir, Abdominal workouts from youtube and so on.
What was the ratio of cardio and weight training during your transformation?
50/50 Initially it was 100/100 for cardio but after August it was 200/200 for weight training, yeah that means no cardio at all.
Please detail your cardio approach during your transformation.
I am not into cardio since August and trust me that is not worth even you might shed some fat but you will lose your muscle your skin as well.
Please detail your weight training approach during your transformation.
I followed a proper workout regime by JC sir like for warm ups – Push Ups, Pull ups, Then chest days, shoulder day, back day, leg day, biceps-triceps, the motive was to train single muscle with abs or two muscles like chest and triceps on the same day.
What all things you learned about exercise, weight training, cardio during your transformation that helped you to achieve your targets?
Difficult to state few but I learned that we are blindly following the myths regarding fitness without even trying to see the image from the other side. We are spoon feeding ourselves with the bro-science surrounding us.
Diet and Supplement Plan
What diet did you follow during your transformation?
Started with Ketogenic diet followed by LCD(low carb diet) and now following Keto with IF(Intermittent fasting)
How many meals were you having throughout the day?
When I was not following If, I use to take three meals now while on IF my macros(Protein, Carbs, and fats) are to be completed in two meals.
What was the ratio of proteins, fats, and carbohydrates in your diet?
Right now as I am on Keto which is high fat, moderate protein, and low carb diet.
Can you give an example of what your daily meal plan looks like?
My diet is all about high fats (cheese, ghee, butter, coconut oil) Proteins (Panner, whole eggs, and egg whites) carbs (basically all that I get from veggies or some tomatoes or onions required to cook some recipes) and not to forget water intake. I literally sip 5-6 liters of water daily.
Were there any diet or nutrition mistakes you made during your transformation?
Nope, I was always particular about what I eat in a day and at what time.
What all things you learned about diet and nutrition during your transformation that helped you to achieve your targets?
That it’s not 80% diet and 20% workout it’s 100% diet and 100% workout. Adding to this I wanna say that ‘fats’ are not the villain, the sweet sugar is the culprit and carbs are to be played off with care.
Did you allow yourself cheat meals?
In the course of 9 months since I started with my structured diet, I have taken three cheat meals so far.
Did you use any supplements during your transformation? If yes, what supplements you used?
I used whey protein powder to complete my protein intake that’s it.
Advice for others
What tips or advice you would like to give to someone who is looking forward to making their own transformation?
The transformation will happen only if you want it to happen. See in the mirror if you are happy with what you see then don’t take that step but…
How do you stay motivated?
Clothes motivate me to grind harder. I know this might sound weird but being a size ‘big’ girl all I was deprived was of good clothes so I go to the mall staring at the sexiest dress and hit the gym hard the next day.
What advice would you give to someone who is facing problems in following the path of transformation?
Trust me it’s all in your mind you just need to break that Cocoon of self-pity and obesity. Obesity is a crime and if you are letting they happen, dude, you are no less than a criminal.
Lifestyle Now, After Transformation
What is your lifestyle now, after you have achieved this transformation?
I haven’t achieved my goals but life seems more beautiful than ever.
Did you change the workout or diet plans?
I keep on experimenting with my workout regimes but with diet all, I do stick to the basics.
